Macbeth, Act 3: Acting Companies

After reading your assigned scene in Act 3, please post the following on this blog:

1. The three most important events, in your humble opinion, of this scene.

2. The most important passage in this scene (please include speaker, the lines themselves, and the line numbers--just as you do in your word trace entries).

3. A thoughtful explanation as to why this passage is so significant (what does it reveal about a character or change in character? Is it part of a motif? Does it reveal any emerging themes?).

  2. Banquo thinks that Macbeth may have killed the king and he dies and his sons go to his funeral and Macbeth thinks of killing his sons so they don't become kings like the prophecy says.
These are important because they show that Macbeth is turning bad and starting to become evil and kill everyone.

In this scene we feel that the evil just can't end. When Macbeth Killed King Duncan, it was just the beginning. Now he has hired murderers to kill his friend and his children. Then he finally does it, and is haunted by what he did earlier. The most important passage was when he orders Banquo to be killed on page 83 lines 80 to 90. and for scene two it is page 91 lines 51-62.

  6. Scene 1 Team Yellow Backpack

Banquo tells Macbeth of his strange dreams.

Macbeth expresses his fear of Banquo.

Macbeth persuades two murders to kill Banquo.

“It is concluded Banquo, thy soul's flight, If it find heaven must find out tonight.”

This is important because he has become paranoid and will kill anyone who gets in his way. He is scared of the prophecy of the weird sisters.

    Scene 2

Macbeth is having more bad dreams.

Banquo is going to be killed.

Lady Macbeth does not want Banquo's sons as kings.

“Ere we eat our meal in fear and sleep in the affliction of these terrible dreams that shake us nightly, Better to be with the dead, Whom we, to gain our peace, have sent to peace, Than on the torture of the mind to lie in restless ecstasy.”
