  1. I disagree with this because you can read what ever you want an racist books are the best just joking but you should be able to choose what book you want to read or not its up to you

  2. Books that promote racism should defiantly be banned from school libraries because it is teaching nothing useful to kids. These kinds of books only teach hate.

  3. I completely agree with the statement, because if you promote racism, them you are racist. Those kinds of books should not even be written.

  4. I disagree, racism in books is necessary in life, for example in TO Kill a Mocking Bird, there is a prominence of racism throughout the book. Does that mean it should be banned? No, because racism needs to be out in the open. We need to discuss it openly so that we can prevent history from repeating. Awareness is the best solution to an issue because keeping things under the table just postpones it.

  5. I agree with banning all racists books specially if it vividly describes the actions. I wouldn't want to read something about a concentration camp. There are exceptions but the only way would be if the book is educational.

  6. I disagree I think that a person has a rite to express their feelings and in a book I dont think that will hurt anyone. Also say the book was about the south and racism is a big thing there you are not going to want to ignore that.

  7. Read whatever you want. White people are so demanding and scared of a backlash. Like i said before you should be able to read whatever you want.

  8. I agree, books that promote racism should be banned.Everyone is created equally and any school who says or have books that say differently should be sued. It is not right for students to be discriminated upon by race.

  10. I think that banning any book on almost any subject is wrong and shouldn't be done. The book may be out there but it doesn't mean its going to hurt you, its your choice what you read and if you don't want to read it you shouldn't have to. I think people should be able to read what they want.

  11. I would disagree and agree because there are books that are from the U.S. history that people need to know about that might be racist because it shows how some people were like back then. But I would agree that books should be banned because if the book has no point then why add racism.

  12. I agree with Nick. The only way to limit racism is to put it out there and talk about it. If it is bottled up then it will never be handled and it will just keep happening. The world has to talk about these things.

  13. I feel that racism should not be promoted in schools. it can be very offending to other students that read a book that is racist to what they believe in or what nationality they are.

  14. Honestly people these days are so sheltered of everything in the world. I think that you should be able to read what you want where you want, just as long as your not threatening people around you.

  15. I agree to some extent. Books promoting racism, definitely; books about racism, no. Racism is apart of The United States' history and if these books are banned, their lessons will never be learned.

  16. I agree with Tyler that people are going to be offended because there are many nationalities and something in a book could offend someone.

  17. I think that books that promote racism should be banned because its promoting it not informing. people have the right to read information about anything but i dont think promoting hatrid towards others is unecessary.

  18. I agree with Nick because the only way to limit words is to know what not to say. So if you ban books then you ban knowledge also.

  19. I agree with BenB because if you don't talk about the issue then it will never be handled and it will keep handling.

  20. Mat P, I have to disagree with your statement. The reason I disagree is because everyone has a story to tell and everyone deserves to be able to tell their story. I agree that racism is not alright, but someone might have interesting take of the concept of racism and everyone deserves the right to listen to the story.

  21. I disagree with Brendan, racist books can always teach you something but they might not be good or positive things about racism. These books also don't always teach hate they state an opinion about hating.

  22. Shane S I very much disagree with what you have to say for many reasons. to start with the statement you made about every man is created equally, if you look back into history and look who made that statement it was all white men. Not to be racist but to sue a school for having books like that is just not right. also if you look back into history and do a little digging before Webster made their new dictionary the definition of racism was that i like my race more than i like yours and not that i hate or discriminate against your race. so next time before you state history look into it and find out the real facts or the real truth.
