Rated R Movies

To what extent do you agree or disagree with the following statement?

People of any age should be admitted to any movie, regardless of that movie's rating.

Please be thorough in your response (all responses should be at least 3 lines long), and remember to be professional with your grammar, spelling, and word choice.

  1. I agree and disagree i think that if you are over 13 than you should be able to watch a R rated movie. If you are any age then a 5 year old could go to a R rated movie and that could be bad. Many kids are able to watch R rated movies at a young age and the movie theater could make a lot of money if they allowed younger kids to watch R rated movies.

  2. I would disagree and agree also because there somethings like a 5 year old shouldn't see but there are somethings that a kid who is a teenager and is responsible can see.

  3. I believe that when kids reach an age of 13 that they should be able to go to rated R movies. I think that it would be bad if kids younger then that went but age 13 would be fine.

  4. I agree that people of any age should be allowed to see R rated movies, it is their own choice and it should not have to be regulated. Their parents also get a say in what movies they can see, but many kids already see R rated movies on TV so censoring is not making it any better.

  5. I also agree and disagree with this one. As nice as it would be to walk into an R movie and not be challenged, I am stuck with the image of a five year old blundering into SAW 5. So you decide.

  6. I agree with Cody M. When you are 13 you should be able to go to any movie you want. At that age you have been around long enough to see a lot of stuff so a rated R movie isn't going to phase you.

  7. I don't think this should be allowed. Some R rated movies contain material that doesn't bode well for younger kids. Also, young kids minds will be filled with things that they are not ready for, which might make them do things that are no acceptable for their age.

  8. I disagree. I think that the rules we have right now about rated R movies are pretty good. If you are old enough or have an adult with you its okay. The thing is is that some people just rent movies and let their kids watch it with them, even if it is scary for little kids or has a lot of inappropriate things for little kids.

  9. I agree with Dominic that to an extent, 5 year olds shouldn't be watching it (not that they'd understand any of it anyways) but i agree with him that it is a responsibility issue. If you are responsible enough and mature you shouldn't be restricted to see a movie that has a ton of violence and drugs and cussing, you would be responsible enough to know its just a movie and to not be influenced by anything.

  10. I think that it depends on the parent. If the parent thinks it is okay for the kid to see it then by all means do so but on the other hand if the parent thinks it is bad then don't let the kid see it.

  11. I think they should maybe like above 12 or something because like 5 year old kid going in to watch something like
Eurotrip I think they won't get it or they so I do agree but it would need some flaws to it so its not that big of a deal

  12. I some what agree because rated R movies may have violence and language but it is no different than everyone everyday life. Watching the news is like a rated R movie. Most of the time the news talks about tragedies like wars and bombs. I think that anyone who is old enough to realize that real life may be just as bad as rated R movies should be able to see then.

  13. I disagree with the statement because we all have different states of mind. In a rated R movie there are concepts which an adult would understand and a child wouldn't. Some movies could even scar people for life if they see it without being mentally ready.

  14. I agree with Mason, the rules we have in place now are working good, only if the movies check for a school id, or drivers permit/liscence, kids will still smeak into the movie even if they are told not to.

  15. I agree with cody m. as well. When kids turn 13 they should be responsible for what they do and don't see. Right now kids are going to be seeking in anyway, it might as well be legal because kids are going to find a way to see it.

  16. I would stress the importance of keeping out children innocent. I think it should be up to the parents. If its okay for them to go to a R Rated movie, then the parent can go with them. other than that, the current policy of 17+ works just fine.

  17. I don't think that we can really put an age on this. It depends on the person going to see the movie. Some people are easily influenced by what they see, while others are not influenced at all. Also, some people are mature and responsible enough to go see rated R movies and others just aren't.

  18. I disagree with this statement entirely. I don't think four year olds should be exposed to blood, horror, sex, and drugs it just isn't right. I agree with multiple people above me saying that the current system works great.

  19. i dont think that a 5 year old should be able to see some ax chopper movie because he will definately have nightmares but then again this is not a big issue if some kid dreams about a movie he saw, it happens. Whats a movie going to do to a kid corrupt him by showing him an r rated movie with a bunch of drugs involved? no it will only inform him rendering him more knowledgeable of the world outside something schools fail to do because they dont want to teach young kids this.

  20. I agree with Aaron and that 13 years and above should be allowed to see R-rated movies but if they are going by themselves then they should pay extra.

  21. I agree with this because if a person of any age should be able to go to whatever movie they feel like going to. If they want to watch it then they should depending on what their parents said.

  22. I believe it could go either way. I think the 13 age would be an okay thing for most movies. However, sometimes alot of the content in R Rated movies wouldnt be understood by people who are young.

  23. They rate the movies for a reason. i support the rating system but i do believe that they are just a little overprotective when rating movies.

  24. I agree with Ben because if a younger aged kid went to see a rated r movie and was exposed to language and content not suitable to people until about high school age it could change how the American public is being raised and how more kids might start doing bad things based on what the "famous" people of America are doing in the movies.

  25. I do think we should still have a limit for
R movies but they should lower it to 16 because a lot of the kids already know whats going to happen in the movies. If they don't want to see the movie they don't half to, but kids at the age of 16 know pretty well what is going on in the movie.

  26. I wouldn't just let anybody into an R rated movie, i would just lower the age to about 14. I think that most 14 yr. olds are mature to handle R material. Not all of them, but I think most of them are ready for R rated stuff.

  27. I feel like if anyone feels like they will be able to watch it, then they can watch it. If a 10 year old is mature enough, they he or she could watch it.

  28. I agree with Reece R. because life is a tragedy but it should be limited for certain age. If you understand what not to do and what do to meaning if you do good you can understand what is bad and good.

  29. Cody- I strongly agree with you because they shouldn't be allowed to watch movies like that because they are not responsible enough. It is kind of pointless that they would see a movie rated R when they don't understand it or it is too scary to watch. You should be responsible enough to know if it okay to watch it or not.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I agree with Cody M. because a 13 year old I think is mature enough to watch R rated movies, but 5 year olds aren't.

  31. I agree with Reece R. in that yes a rated R movie is like life and if someone is mature enough to handle it then yes they should be able to watch it. But i disagree in that the news is like a rated R movie, even though yes it does talk about wars and bombing, they do not talk or show sexual scenes and show drug us or drop the F-bomb all the time. so yes depending on the persons maturity level should be able to watch them but even if they are their parents probably already let them watch rated R movies.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I agree with Mason, because I think that rated R movies are rated that for a reason, but like Mason said, if kids are with their parents or with other adults they can watch rated R movies because they would have supervision- especially with all the inappropriate things that are in R rated movies.

  33. Justin B- I completely agree with what you said. I think that it does depend on the maturity of the person, not the age. But I do think that no 5 year old is mature enough to view the graphic images in a Rated R film. But there are some children that mature faster and there are still adults that are not mature enough to see Rated R films. I think that people reach a certain age when they can make their own decision to choose if they want to see a Rated R movie.
